Tree-top adventure course 40 minutes from Gap
Gap is the prefecture of the Hautes-Alpes department and is home to the department’s largest population center (40,000 residents). The Parc Aventure Réallon has been the department’s only tree-top adventure park since 2021 and is a 40-minute drive away via the D942.
Directions from Gap
- Leave Gap via Route 942 toward Embrun
- Continue on to Chorges (20 minutes)
- In Chorges, take the D9 toward Réallon
- Take the D9 up to the Réallon station (an additional 20 minutes)
- Total: 38 km, 40 minutes under normal conditions
Route D942 is a smooth two-lane road, except during the peak tourist season (weekends in July and August). If possible, leave before 9 a.m. to avoid traffic.
Why drive 40 minutes down from Gap instead of going somewhere closer?
For comparison, other tree-top adventure parks accessible from Gap include:
- Jungle Aventure Laye (Northern Hautes-Alpes): 40 minutes via the D944
- Jungle Adventure Les Orres: 1 hour via the N94
- Crots Branches: 50 min via Embrun
For a course of similar length to Jungle Aventure Laye, Réallon offers a different experience: higher elevation (1,560 m vs. 1,100 m), a larch forest instead of a pine forest, guidance from a professional rope access technician certified since 1995, and the added benefit of being able to combine it with a half-day visit to Lake Serre-Ponçon.
What kind of outing from Gap?
The Réallon tree-top adventure park is ideal for: a weekend family outing (morning at the park + afternoon at the lake), a school field trip in June or September, or a child’s birthday party for parents looking to get out of the Gap metropolitan area. Less suitable for: a quick visit lasting less than 4 hours (the round-trip drive alone takes 1 hour and 20 minutes).
